The short answer
If you live near Adyar, OMR or South Chennai, Jananam Fertility Centre is in Neelankarai, off East Coast Road (ECR), with its own IVF lab on site. Our Thiruporur clinic on OMR handles consultations, scans and IUI; egg collection and embryo transfer happen at Neelankarai. Check any clinic's ART registration and ask for a written plan.
01Which fertility centre is near Adyar, OMR and South Chennai?
Jananam Fertility Centre has two sites on the south side of the city: Neelankarai off ECR, and Thiruporur on OMR.
Our main centre is at 22/10, 11 Kazura Garden, 1st Street, Neelankarai, Chennai, Tamil Nadu 600115. Look for Hot Chips restaurant: we are opposite it, off East Coast Road (ECR). It is a fertility-only hospital with parking on site, and it is open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm. Our second site is a clinic at 1st Floor, Adhithyaa Complex, OMR Rd, Kannagapattu, Thiruporur, Tamil Nadu 603110, open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
We have not measured journey times from every neighbourhood, so we will not guess them. Tell us where you live and we will help you plan the trip.
Neelankarai centreThiruporur clinic02What happens at Neelankarai, and what happens at Thiruporur?
Neelankarai does everything, including the lab. Thiruporur is for the visits that happen most often.
At Neelankarai you can have your first consultation, scans, blood tests, IUI, egg collection and embryo transfer, with the embryology lab in the same building. At Thiruporur you can have first consultations, follicle-tracking scans, blood tests, semen analysis, tube tests, IUI, pregnancy tests and IVF follow-ups. Both centres share one file, so you do not repeat your story.
Thiruporur is a clinic, not a hospital. It has no theatre and no lab for egg collection or embryo transfer. If you need IVF, those steps happen at Neelankarai.
03What should I look for in a fertility clinic if I live in Adyar or on OMR?
The same things you would check anywhere: who is tested, where the lab is, what is in writing, and whether the clinic is registered.
Both partners should be tested before IVF is suggested, including a semen analysis. The embryology lab should be on site, so eggs and embryos are not moved between buildings. You should get a written plan that says what happens at each step and when to reconsider. And the clinic should be registered under the ART (Regulation) Act 2021, which you can check on the national registry. Jananam is registered as an ART Level 2 clinic, ART/CHE/121/2023.
How to check any fertility clinic in Chennai04Is it worth choosing a clinic just because it is close?
Closeness helps, because treatment means many visits. But it should not decide the matter on its own.
IVF involves repeated scans over about two weeks, so a clinic you can reach easily makes life simpler. Even so, the checks in the section above matter more than a few kilometres. If a clinic nearer to you answers them better, go there. If you are comparing, ask each one the same questions and compare the written answers.
05How do we start, and what does it cost?
Start with a first consultation. We look at both partners' history and tests, then give you a written plan.
Bring any earlier reports. Prices for each step are on our cost page, so we do not repeat them here.
