Pre-Implantation Genetic Testing (PGT) at Jananam Fertility

image

IVF Process is performed in the same way and the embryos are cultured to day 5 until they become blastocysts. And then a few cells are taken from the outer covering of the embryo which is called trophectoderm and sent for biopsy and the embryo is frozen. Once the embryos are tested, we get the results back telling us which embryos are chromosomally normal and which are worthy of transfer. Based on this we transfer the embryos.

At Jananam Fertility, we understand the importance of giving your future baby the best possible start. Pre-implantation Genetic Testing (PGT) is an advanced reproductive technology that helps identify genetic abnormalities in embryos before implantation, increasing the chances of a healthy pregnancy. Our expert team offers three types of PGT:

Pre-Implantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy (PGT-A)
What is PGT-A?
PGT-A is a screening test that checks embryos for an abnormal number of chromosomes (aneuploidy). An abnormal number of chromosomes can lead to implantation failure, miscarriage, or genetic disorders such as Down syndrome.

When is PGT-A Recommended?

  • * Women of advanced maternal age (35 years and older)
  • * Couples with a history of recurrent pregnancy loss
  • *Previous implantation failure in IVF cycles
  • * Couples with a history of chromosomal abnormalities
  • *Those undergoing IVF who wish to select embryos with the highest chance of success
How is PGT-A Done?
  • * During IVF, embryos are cultured in the lab until they reach the blastocyst stage.
  • * A few cells are carefully biopsied from each embryo.
  • * The genetic material is analyzed to determine chromosomal count and identify abnormalities.
  • * Only chromosomally normal embryos are selected for transfer, increasing the chance of a successful pregnancy.

Pre-Implantation Genetic Testing for Monogenic Disorders (PGT-M)

What is PGT-M?

Book Appointment

PGT-M is a genetic test designed for couples who are carriers of a known single- gene disorder (monogenic disease). It ensures that embryos free from the inherited condition are selected for transfer.

When is PGT-A Recommended?

  • * Couples with a family history of genetic diseases such as:
    • * Cystic fibrosis
    • * Sickle cell anemia
    • * Thalassemia
    • * Huntington’s disease
    • * Muscular dystrophy
  • * Individuals who are confirmed carriers of a monogenic disorder
  • *Couples who have previously had a child with a genetic condition
How is PGT-M Done?
  • * A genetic analysis is conducted on the parents before IVF to determine the exact mutation.
  • * During IVF, embryos are created and biopsied at the blastocyst stage.
  • * The biopsied cells are tested for the specific genetic mutation.
  • * Only embryos free from the inherited disorder are selected for transfer, reducing the risk of passing on the condition.

Pre-Implantation Genetic Testing for Structural Rearrangements (PGT-SR)

At Jananam Fertility, we understand the importance of giving your future baby the best possible start. Pre-implantation Genetic Testing (PGT) is an advanced reproductive technology that helps identify genetic abnormalities in embryos before implantation, increasing the chances of a healthy pregnancy. Our expert team offers three types of PGT:

Pre-Implantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy (PGT-A) What is PGT-SR?
PGT-SR is used to detect structural chromosome abnormalities such as translocations, inversions, or deletions in embryos. These abnormalities can cause implantation failure, recurrent miscarriage, or genetic disorders in offspring.

When is PGT-A Recommended?

  • * Couples with a history of recurrent miscarriage due to chromosomal abnormalities
  • * Individuals who are carriers of balanced translocations or inversions
  • *Previous IVF failure due to chromosomal abnormalities
  • * Couples with a known family history of structural chromosomal rearrangements
How is PGT-SR Done?
  • * Like PGT-A and PGT-M, embryos are biopsied at the blastocyst stage.
  • * Advanced genetic testing is conducted to detect any structural chromosomal abnormalities
  • * Only embryos with a normal chromosomal structure are selected for implantation, improving pregnancy success rates.
